John Temple
DRG director John Temple served as president and CEO of Guideposts, a nonprofit inspirational organization reaching millions around the world, until his retirement in 2007. He continues to serve on the organization's board of directors.
Temple formerly was associated with Reader's Digest and served in ministry at Peekskill Presbyterian Church in Peekskill, N.Y. He served on the board of directors for the Guideposts Education Foundation in Hong Kong, a program for the education of pre-school Chinese children, serving 1,500 Chinese children with 200 local Chinese teachers.
In addition to serving on the board of directors for DRG and Guideposts, Temple serves on the board of directors for Highlights for Children and Subsidiaries, Shakespeare Oil Company, the Presbyterian Publishing Corp., and the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation, where he served as chairman in 2007. He also served on the board of directors for the Direct Marketing Association, and in 1994 was its chairman. In 2006, he was inducted into the DMA Hall of Fame.
Temple has served in many business and community associations, including the Board of Education for the Carmel New York Central School District, the board of trustees of the Northern Westchester Hospital Center, the board of directors for the Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel and the board of directors of CURE International.
Temple earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and a Master's of Divinity degree from McCormick Seminary in Chicago.
