BERNE, Ind. -- DRG, nationally-known publisher of special-interest books and magazines, has released a full-size knitting book called Knit on Down, with 45 projects created using the top-down knitting technique. The book is available in a softcover edition that retails for $19.95 and a hardcover edition that sells for $24.95.

Knit on Down features step-by-step instructions for knitting a variety of top-down sweaters, hats and socks for women and children. Knitters say they enjoy the top-down knitting technique because there are no seams. Projects are worked in rounds, creating garments in one piece rather than body and sleeve pieces that need to be sewn together.

The book includes close-up photos of stitch patterns, with tips on techniques such as provisional cast-ons, adding stitches and working in rounds. There is also general information, including instructions for knit and purl stitches, binding off and basic knitting techniques.

Knit on Down includes projects organized into five chapters, with Sweaters for Every Season, Sweaters for Friends, Family and Pets, Togs for Baby and Toddler, Hats and Socks, and For Charity.

The book is published under the House of White Birches brand. HWB is a leading DRG brand, publishing special interest publications in the enthusiast categories of knitting, crochet, quilting, paper crafting, plastic canvas, nostalgia and beading. Other DRG brands include Annie's Attic, Clotilde and The Needlecraft Shop.

Knitters can find a variety of additional patterns and knitting products at the DRG Web site, located at DRGnetwork.com.
