BERNE, Ind. -- House of White Birches, trusted brand of nationally-known publisher DRG, has compiled a 300-page book of original scrap quilts made with leftover fabric pieces. Creative Scraps: Quilting with Bits & Pieces is one in a series of colorful quilting books from DRG, and is available in a softcover edition that retails for $24.95.

In the early days of quilting, fabric was limited, so quilts were created from the materials that were available. Quilters used their sense of color and ingenuity to create quilt blocks to brighten a room and create eye-catching interest. With Quilting with Bits & Pieces, today's quilter can continue the tradition of creating colorful quilts from available scraps.

Quilting with Bits & Pieces offers 67 quilt designs -- each fashioned from a variety of fabric pieces in an array of color combinations. There are step-by-step instructions with each pattern, along with a color photo and a set of general quilt-making guidelines to help quilters from all experience levels.

In addition to quilting books, DRG also publishes a bi-monthly quilting magazine, Quilter's World, which is available in specialty stores, on newsstands or from the magazine Web site at Quilters-World.com. Creative Scraps: Quilting with Bits & Pieces is available from the DRG wholesale Web site at DRGWholesale.com.
