Looking Back magazine celebrates summer fun
Looking Back highlights true stories contributed by readers from across the country, focusing on average Americans and every-day experiences from the past. There are old-time advertisements, witty cartoons and authentic photographs of memorable people, places and events, with newly added magazine sections that incorporate recipes, nostalgia travel and old-fashioned home remedies.
Stories in the July issue recall popular summer activities from an earlier era, with stories titled Sellin' Melons, Snow in July, Caught in the Watermelon Patch, July Fourth Apple Cannons and Camp Days. In all, there are more than two dozen first-hand accounts, as well as a recipe section called Home Cooking, with favorite family recipes and a recipe swap.
Looking Back launched as a complement to Good Old Days, the original DRG nostalgia magazine, which started as a write-in column in the 1960s but quickly grew into an independent nostalgia publication.
Good Old Days was created in the New England area by a publishing company called House of White Birches. In 1985, HWB was purchased from its original owners and moved to the Midwest town of Berne, Ind., to become part of the DRG family of brands.
For more than 40 years, Good Old Days publications have grown in popularity and appeal, with more than 300,000 magazines sold each month. Looking Back reflects a continued interest in stories and photos from the past, but adds a more updated look and additional features.
Readers can subscribe to Looking Back from the magazine Web site at LookingBackMagazine.com. A 12-month subscription includes six issues. Individual copies of the magazine are available on newsstands and in select stores.
